
The UAE and the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development is set to welcome 54 nations participating in the 40th edition of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) Executive Council. Taking place tomorrow at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), the Executive Council will discuss and outline general policies and ISESCO’s strategic work for the next decade. ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organisations and specialises in the fields of education, science and culture.
Her Excellency Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development said: “It is a great pride for the UAE to be the host country for the 40th ISESCO Executive Council as the organisation enters an exciting, new chapter since its inception in May 1979. The UAE is committed to enhancing ISESCO’s position on an international stage based on our firm belief that cooperation and solidarity in programmes and projects among member states is a key pillar in increasing the contribution of Islamic nations to culture, education and science on a global level. We strive to work with ISESCO and its member states to achieve the organisation’s goals and to strengthen its institutional capabilities and effectiveness.
Dr. Salem bin Muhammad al-Malik, Director General of ISESCO, said: “The 40th edition of the ISESCO Executive Council marks a significant milestone for the organization, where a new vision will be presented to Member States. The discussions at this Executive Council will pave the directions for action in ISESCO’s next stage; adopting a strategy for enhanced cooperation with other members states. This session is part of ISESCO's new vision, to become a beacon of global outreach, promoting wider participation with other countries. As one of the largest organisations in Islamic nations covering the areas of Education, Sciences and Culture, ISESCO is determined to lead the change in advancing these sectors globally and press on development efforts towards a better future. The new vision and strategy will enable the organisation to look back on the last decade and revitalize its efforts for next ten years.
The agenda for the Executive Council includes discussions on a new organizational structure for ISESCO, the establishment of a development moratorium for ISESCO, and the launch of the International Advisory Council of ISESCO. During the session, members of the Financial Control Committee will also be elected, as well as the appointment of ISESCO’s new auditing company, and the venue and date will be decided for the 41st session of the Executive Board.
