The “Preparing Theatrical Actors” Workshop Reveals A Number Of Talents That Might Enrich The UAE Theater

The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development organized a specialized seminar about theatrical decor for all participants in The "Preparing Theatrical Actors" workshop, which is currently organized by the Ministry on the stage of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center , with the participation of more than 37 talented Emirati and Arab artists in the field of theater for 21 days. The workshop comes within the framework the Ministry’s support of creative and talented young people in the fields of culture, arts and literature, in addition to the Ministry’s discovery of new blood in the Emirati theater. The seminar , which discussed the importance of decoration, lighting and clothing in enriching the theatrical work and supporting the actor's role, was conducted Waleed Al-Zaabi, Head of Heritage and Arts Department in the Ministry. The seminar also discussed the role of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development in developing young talents and introducing them to the necessary tools to work on stage and teaching them the basics of theatrical acting. “The Preparing Theatrical Actors workshop has focused on developing the talents of the participants and teaching and training them about the basics of acting through two basic aspects: the theoretical aspect, related to presenting the cognitive and scientific aspects of theater within the framework of the necessary basics without going into exact details, in addition to the application aspect which took more than 70% of the time of the workshop. “ said Director Faisal Al-Darmaki. He added that now two weeks after the start of the course, we can say that we have discovered a number of talents that might enrich the UAE theater during the coming period. Al-Darmaki noted that the workshop focused on the basics and principles of acting, in addition to theatre cinemography. The course was divided into four parts over 21 days and the participants received training on a number of skills a theatrical actor should have such as; how to speak and breathe properly, body language and visual communication and gestures. Waleed Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of Heritage and Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, noted that the aim behind the course is to qualify amateur theater lovers with the essentials necessary to join the world of theater. He added that the course organized by the ministry over the course of 21 days addresses general concepts, not only those related to acting but also details of working inside a theater such as lighting, décor and production. He further explained that the workshop also focused on the introduction of expressive tools of an actor and how to develop and employ them while working on stage. The workshop also focused on enriching actors awareness about theatrical issues to help them discover and experiment in the field of acting, in addition to the development of their creativity and training them to face the public and accept criticism and performance under pressure.
