Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, assured that the position of any award in the world lies in the size of its international participations, the value of its participants and its ability to achieve its objectives. The world confirms that the International Al Burda Award launched by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development is characterized by excellence and uniqueness and appreciates its cultural and artistic value in supporting Arabic language arts and literature and Islamic arts in general. The world also praises its comprehensiveness of many different cultural fields, being the most important competition in the field of Islamic arts such as Arabic calligraphy, classical ornamentation and Al Hurufeya " الحروفية" on the international level. The International Al Burda Award has also surpassed the Emirati surrounding to reach Arabic and International levels , with the participation of some of the world’s best and famous creators in its various fields, thus, supporting the status of the United Arab Emirates as a sponsor of culture and a supporter of creativity and creators. This came after the adoption of His Excellency to the terms and conditions of the four sections of the award in preparation for the launch of the fifteenth session of the International Al Burda Award. This award this year focuses on the Quran Kufic script “الخط الكوفي المصحفي” in the field of calligraphy, classical decoration, and Al Hurufeya "الحروفية". The fifteenth session of the award is also looking forward to discover new creations in poetry,in both fields Al Faseeh and Al Nabati " الفصيح والنبطي" as the award allows the participation of poets, ornamenters and calligraphers from the UAE and all over the world. The doors for participation will remain opened until the 10nth of September. His Excellency announced that in the field of Arabic calligraphy "The Traditional Style", the Ministry has decided to allocate this year’s session to the Quran Kufic script “الخط الكوفي المصحفي that was widely used starting from the third century AH until the fifth century, in a trial to revive its aesthetics and depth. Participants should write the Quranic verse: “ هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا (28) مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ اللَّهِ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ تَرَاهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًا ۖ سِيمَاهُمْ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ. “ Whereas in the field of “Al Horofy” style الأسلوب الحروفي, the ministry the following verse of poetry for the artist to draw: "فـاقَ البُـدورَ وَفـاقَ الأَنبِـياءَ فَكَــم بِالخَـلقِ وَالخُـلٌقِ مِــن حُســنٍ وَمِـن عِظَـمِ" The Ministry also chose classical ornamentation as this year’s theme, along with Arabic poetry in both fields Al Faseeh and Al Nabati “" الفصيح والنبطي. The poetry must shed light on the biography of the prophey Muhammad peace be upon him, with a minimum of 30 verses and 50 verses. Sheikh Nahyan further stressed that all the details of the competition, participation, prizes and detailed conditions can be found on the website of Al Burda Award or on the Ministry’s web site. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, stressed on the importance of the Al Burda Award and its effective and positive role in the revitalization of cultural and artistic movement on the Arab level and internationally. Al Burda award is a global event in the field of Arabic and Islamic culture, with the participation of international elite poets, calligraphers and ornamenters, capable of achieving broader cultural exchanges between peoples and civilizations. Sheikh Nahyan praised the support of our leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who are doing their utmost for the development and prosperity of this country. “The Award continuously seeks development and modernization in order to achieve its goal of teaching the beauty of Islamic art and its aesthetics to all segments of the society. The Award also aims to promote competition among the participants and to encourage innovation in searching the biography of Prophet Muhamed (PBUH), in addition to honoring poets, calligraphers and fine artists from all over the Muslim world.”, noted Sheikh Nahyan. His Excellency added that the award has gained global fame over the years where poets and calligraphers from all over the world are eager to participate, due to the awards annual growth and development, in addition to professionalism and experience of jury members who were handpicked according to professionalism, integrity, neutrality and credibility. The Jury members of the fifteenth session for the traditional style (calligraphy and ornamentation) includes:Dr. Mustafa Agorderman from Turkey, Mr. Mohamed Ozjay from Turkey, Mr. Obeida al Banki from Syria, Mr. Senjaqtotan Nagati from Turkey, and Mr. Ardeshir Mugrd Takstani from Iran. Whereas the Jury members of Al Hurufi style includes Dr. Najat Makki and Mr. Abdul Rahim Salem Mohammed Al Qasab from the UAE. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development started organizing Al Burda Award competition since 1425 H/2004 A.D. to commemorate the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed “PBUH”. Al Burda Award is a pioneering and distinguished international award aimed at creating a spirit of competition among participants and encouraging the spirit of initiative and innovation to exert more effort and time to read the biography of the Prophet peace be upon him, and to honor distinguished and creative poets, calligraphers and ornamenters from all over the Islamic world.
