Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development launched its project "UAE Reads" which includes a number of events and activities through all its cultural centers across the UAE. The project aims to develop the habit of reading among children and youth in the UAE as part of its participation in the activities of the month of reading under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. Her Excellency Afra Al Sabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, confirmed that this project’s main objective is to promote the habit of reading among all segments of society through an innovative mechanism to deliver knowledge and culture through paper or electronic books and through innovative activities in cultural centers. Al Sabri added that during the month of reading cultural centers of the Ministry will be transformed into real reading hubs with the initiative "UAE Reads". A cognitive / cultural initiative aiming to provide a proper climate for the development of reading and cognitive capacities among members of the UAE society. This will be achieved through combining all library and cultural centers visitors and volunteers and delivering a number of various events and activities to promote and encourage the culture of reading and knowledge in the UAE society Her Excellency noted that the project "UAE Reads" receives direct support from His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development , who ensures that the ministry plays its leading role in the dissemination of cultural and cognitive awareness and strengthen the capacity of the UAE society through reading. The project includes more than 100 different events such as; Let us read, My family reads, The Storyteller, Seminars, Poets from the UAE, Writing children's stories, Stories and tales, Read and play, Storytelling, The talent of reading, the pioneers of knowledge, Reading is the future, A book in minutes and Arts of innovative reading. Al Sabri called on all segments of society to actively participate in all events.
