Ministry Of Culture Organizes A Workshop To Prepare Theatrical Actors In Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre

The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development launched yesterday the workshop “Preparing Theatrical Actors” on the stage of the Abu Dhabi cultural center. The workshop will take place over the course of 4 weeks and will be conducted by the theatrical director Faisal Al Darmaki, with the participation of around 30 people from the UAE and other Arab countries belonging to different age groups. The workshop comes within the framework the Ministry’s support of creative and talented young people in the fields of culture, arts and literature, in addition to the Ministry’s discovery of new blood in the Emirati theater. "Under the guidance of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development seeks through its events and activities to provide all kinds of support to talented young people in all cultural, artistic and literary fields with the aim of encouraging UAE youth towards innovation, in addition to the introduction of new talents to the cultural and artistic scene regionally and internationally. This comes within the framework of investing in the efforts and energies of young ones and allowing creative talents to express their abilities and perceptions”, explained Yasser Al-Gergawi, Director of Cultural Events Department at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development “The Ministry by organizing such yearlong workshops specialized in the art of theatre aims to stimulate young potentials, embrace, encourage, develop and support theatrical talents. This will ultimately benefit the UAE theater in general by providing the theatrical scene with a new generation of young talents, capable of completing the journey of former UAE creatives in the field of theater and qualifying young people willing to learn more about the art of theater by giving them a comprehensive overview about theatre and providing them with direct contact with the symbols of theatrical art in the state.”, added Al Gergawi. Faisal Al-Darmaki, the workshop's supervisor, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development for giving him the opportunity to present this workshop, which comes in perfect timing as the theatrical season starts after the holy month, making it a good opportunity for those participating in the workshop to utilize their time during the holy month. Al-Darmaki explained that the workshop includes training on how to identify the multiple tools of an actor and their utilization and development, in addition to relationship between the actor, his body and his flexibility. The workshop also includes training for the following; concentration, imagination, working within a group and the difference between different schools of theatre in terms of performance and character preparation starting from reading theatrical texts, preparing actors and dealing with the stage. Al-Darmaki finally added “the workshop is keen to discover young talents and their strengths. Participants in the workshop praised the role played by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development in supporting talents in various literary, intellectual and artistic fields, stressing their great desire in utilizing this opportunity to hone their talents and support their potential in the field of theatrical work, finally valuing the efforts of the director Faisal Al Darmaki general supervisor of the workshop.
