
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, stressed that the Burda Award is one of the most important initiatives of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development Initiatives over the past 14 years not only on the local level but globally. The award now bears a distinguished position as a unique event in the fields of poetic and artistic creativity. He further assured that the United Arab Emirates is one of the most important capitals of culture and art on Arab and international levels, stressing that the development of the award each year is the reason behind its continuity. This came after the adoption of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, yesterday the winners of the fourteenth session of the International Burda Award organized by the Ministry annually to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammad, in its three categories of Arabic and Nabaty poetry, calligraphy and ornamentation. HE explained that the Burda Award reinforced the status of the Arabic language, as the UAE has become one of the most countries in the region concerned about cultural and cognitive development through strengthening the role of culture, arts, literature and support of talented creators and innovators by providing a suitable environment for creativity. Sheikh Nahyan pointed out that knowledge and culture are important components of our renaissance, which is why culture receives support from our wise leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme commander of the armed forces. HE explained that the aim of the Burda award is to introduce the beauty of Islamic art and its aesthetics to the UAE society, and to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation to exert more effort and time searching in the biography of the Prophet Muhamed peace be upon him. Results of the Burda Award at its fourteenth session in the fields of calligraphy, ornamentation and poetry came as follows: Arabic Calligraphy category: Mahfouz Thou Al Noun Younis won first place, Abdo Mohammed Hassan Al Gammal got from Egypt won the third place, Mohammed Jaber Al Sayed Abou El Aela got from Egypt won the third place, Munir Tahrawi from Algeria finished fourth, and Mohsen Abadi from Iran won the Fifth place. In the Ornamentation category, Firdaus Baqal from Turkey won first place, Nihal Tozjan from Turkey won second place, Hal Shah Alam Shah Mansoor from Uzbekistan won third place, Zainab Rhnma from Iran won fourth place and Elham Afrouz Nfouti from Iran won fifth place. In Persian Calligraphy category, Muhannad Waleed Khalil from Canada won first place, Ihsan Hakem Kazim from Iraq won second place, Tag Al Ser Hassan from Sudan won third place, Mahmoud Mohamed Farah from Canada won third place and Ibrahim Al Hassoun from Syria won fifth place. In Arabic poetry category the results were as follows: Mustafa Qasim Abbas from Syria won first place, Zahir Abdul Habib Al-Qurashi from Yemen won second place, Hisham Al Daqqaq from Morocco won third place and Sayed Mohammad Abdel Razek Abdel Al from Egypt won fourth place. In Nabaty poetry category Ahmed bin Saeed Bin Amer Al Maamari from Oman won first place, Abdulaziz bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Amiri from Oman won second place, Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Abd Al Fadeel from Egypt won third place and Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Mohammad from Syria won fourth place.
