Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations held in China

The UAE will participate in the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, held under the patronage of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bejing starting May 10, in conjunction with the 2019 Asian Civilization Exhibition. The official UAE delegation includes representatives of the Department of Antiquities and Sites at the Sharjah Archeology Authority, the Department of Surveying and Excavation, Dubai Municipality and the Archaeology Unit at the Department of Archeology and Museums in Ras Al Khaimah.

Sheikh Salem Khalid Al Qassimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Heritage and Arts Sector said: "The UAE pays special attention to its tangible and intangible heritage and to the world's cultural heritage in general. This is integral to the appreciation of culture and human knowledge, which is inherited by generations and runs through our common human history. This is also part of our vision for a future built on dialogue and communication, tolerance and openness.

"For the UAE, China is a central hub in Asia; it is a global cultural center spanning thousands of years and offering opportunities for cooperation in various fields, especially cultural ones," Sheikh Salem Al Qassimi concluded.

The UAE's participation in the conference and exhibition, through an official delegation and a collection of rare artifacts, reflects the history of this country and its ancient civilization, which was a focal point of human engagement, through ancient land and sea trade routes.

It is also a strong and positive representation of a society which has been open to the world, since its earliest days and highlights the importance of communication and dialogue among Asian civilizations. Furthermore, it contributes to building a platform for cooperation and cultural exchange among all Asian countries.
