Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development launched its project "Reading in Majalis" which includes a range of cultural programs and activities organized in neighborhood Majalis to activate its role as reading and knowledge hubs. A number of events will be held in Majalis such as book clubs and workshops. The project focuses on promoting the habit of reading through community bonding available in UAE neighborhoods majalis. This comes within the framework of the Ministry's participation in initiatives supporting the national strategy for reading. The Ministry orgasied cultural and reading sessions in Al Bait Al Metwahad Majlis in Ras Al Khaimah and Dahyeta Muwailih Majlis in Sharjah. It is worthy of mentioning that the sessions were filled with discussions about means of motivating young children to read in innovative ways and also addressed the increase use of electronic games which should be substituted with book reading. This step is only the beginning of more cultural events, programs and activities activating the role of Majalis all over the UAE.
