Al Yabbana Fort

Al Yabbana Fort is located at the easternmost edge of the Liwa Crescent. It was originally constructed to protect important eastern settlements (mahadhar), such as Nashashah and Al-Tharwaniyyah, along with their associated date palm groves. Oral histories collected around 1955 suggest that the original structure was built near the end of the 19th century. Remnants of an outer wall indicate that the early construction used stone quarried from the immediate surrounding area. The original building no longer exists, but the fort was reconstructed using mudbrick between 2000 and 2004.
