Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has inaugurated the events of Korea Festival 2017, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development to strengthen mutual relations and promote cultural exchange between both countries. Her Excellency was accompanied by Park Kang-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE. The launch of the month long festival, which runs in the period between 25th October and 24th September, featured a hologram show entitled “Lights in Harmony”, contemporary dance and live music performance entitled “Korean Culture in Motion Darkness Poomba” , in addition to an Emirati-Korean fine arts exhibition entitled “Women and Nature” by the Korean artist Kim Duck-yong and the Emirati artist Noura Al Hashemi. Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi asserted that hosting Korea Festival 2017 is an embodiment of the strength of mutual relations between both countries in various fields. The Festival introduces the Korean cultural scene to the UAE, creating an opportunity for artists from both countries to get introduced to different heritage and cultures. This would in turn bring people together by opening doors to creativity, innovation, cultural development and communication, in addition to experience exchange. On the other hand, Park Kang-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE, commented “We are hosting the festival [this year] together with UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development. We hope that visitors will see not only the diverse aspects of Korean culture, but also the harmony, which can only be present when we understand and accept each other,” “I hope Korea Festival 2017 could deliver dynamic motions of Korea to the people in the UAE. Korea is on the opposite side of the world from the UAE, and it still might be a country that is too far, both geographically and culturally, to some people. What we present at the festival will be a very small part of our country, but I hope it could be a breakthrough for those who are still not familiar with Korea and its culture,” he added.
